I have some shots of a gorgeous NS27 named Evergreen that I took on Lake Michigan near the channel for Holland, MI's Lake Macatawa. She was an aft-cockpit. I took the shots from my M17 as the singlehanding helmsman motored past . . . I shadowed him for awhile, but he didn't pay any attention to me. I was hoping he'd notice the family resemblance in my Monty . . . :-) There was another NS27 on a mooring on Muskegon Lake where I sail, that mysteriously disappeared sometime in July or August . . . I used to motor through the moorings where she lay to admire her . . . Perhaps that's why the owner moved . . . :-) The Muskegon boat was also an aft-cockpit . . . ----- Original Message ----- From: Bob To: For and about Montgomery Sailboats Sent: Wednesday, January 12, 2005 12:02 AM Subject: Nor'Sea 27 for sale Tod I think that was the boat. Not many Nor'Seas were in the Great Lakes area. We just received a Nor'Sea 27 I built in 1984 for Richard Spry (and his wife) Richard sailed her up and down the Pacific Coast, down into Mexico, Sea of Cortez, south thru the Panama Canal, up through the Bahamas over to the Atlantic seaboard into the Intercoastal Waterway. He then flew back to California, picked up his trailer and drove east and retrieved his boat. He had some health issues, sold the boat and it has been stored in Colorado for several years, on the trailer. The new owner is having us recondition her to brand new status. After 20 years, she's getting a new fuel tank, engine was recently rebuilt, new stuffing box, new tiller, some teak trim replaced, the entire electrical system will be replaced with the latest panels, wiring, LED lighting (as well as some normal and red lights for night vision) 2 new Batteries, a 3 switch system with combiner, a new high capacity alternator, Link 20 system, new blue sea system panels, Monitor windvane will be reconditioned, new interior cushions, new sails (Main and Jib, the 135 seems just fine) teak doors over the dropboards, a storm hood, new gaskets....etc. A long list of projects. Oh..... and I am removing the old CNG stove and broiler oven for an Origo and Microwave under. After 20 years, even now she looks great.! (I just sent you a photo of her backed into the shop) Fair winds Bob (949) 489-8227
