I guess you can't please everyone. The sailmaker did say he was sorry that he forgot the second reef point. Harry at Elliott-Pattasen did install the 2nd reef and ship it back to you no charge. What bothers most of us is why you didn't just take the boat sailing with one reef point and when winter sets in and the boat is tucked away, THEN send the sail back for the 2nd reef. No hurry. Is that a factory problem? Also they didn't supply a piece of line that is 5/16 by 38 feet long. Its a jib sheet line, and a continious length. Its total cost is $14.84. Sorry it was left out of the sail bag. Let me remind you that I had your trailer specially built with a DROP AXLE so it would be lower than others. (per your request) To do this I had to make several trips to the trailer shop. I even had to bring the boat over and leave it at the trailer shop for several days while they built this custom trailer. I made at least 8 trips to Pacific Trailer, moving the boat, bringing the empty trailer back, checking to see that it fit properly, even waiting for several hours one day for your loan company to show up (while the boat was at Pacific Trailer) and do his normal inspection before funding your loan. I did this gladly and without ANY extra charge. No extra charge was made for the custom work on your drop axle trailer either. I got you the trailer at COST. Doing this work did take time. I agreed to get you a CDI FF2 furling system at cost. I charged you $290 for the system. The system cost me $379. Did I ask you for more money? .....No. (I did get you the roller bearing option which is the absolute best system) You asked me to guess the cost of delivery and I added that cost to your base price. (in your financing package) We held out $1800 but the delivery cost was $1950. Did I ask you for more money to make up the added (fuel costs) cost?........No. I obtained (per your request) a Honda 5 HP outboard. New in the box. We sold this at cost and drove 120 miles to get it for you. All our rudders and tillers are sealed and varnished when they arrive from Royce. Yours were no different. So I really think you are mistaken. I don't install the CDI systems. I simply don't have the time. I didn't charge you to install it. If I did, it would cost an extra days labor and add up to about $600+. I did cut the foil for you and tied it to the mast. The loose parts that we set into the cabin are for the installation. (in a cardboard box with the instructions) No charge. The CDI system has one line coming aft. Some installations I have seen have this line going to a bullseye on the bow pulpit down either side (depending on if your right or left handed) to a cleat. I did give you a plastic bag with some loose parts for you to use doing this. (no charge) The trailer is under warranty and Pacific Trailer said you have never called to get a new ' rubber bumper ' that you say split during the delivery trip. I did ask Pacific Trailer about this and they said they would be happy to give you a replacement part, but you have never called them. A nickel sized mark on the fiberglass next to the bow eye? Another thing that you complained about (calling me a crook, no less in a previous email) is that you didn't get winch handles for the lewmar winches. I don't supply winch handles. I don't sell winch handles and you never ordered or paid for winch handles. Like always, for people who want to get some gear for their boat, I offer to get this stuff for them at cost to help out, but when dealing with people like you it makes me wonder WHY !? You received a beautiful boat. please sell it to someone that appreciates what ' customer service ' is. Never once did I complain about anything, the custom trailer, the thousands of dollars worth of work and parts AT COST and NO CHARGE. So I don't talk to people who constantly WHINE about little mickey mouse piece of ropes that were missing. Especially you, because of that hateful and vile email you sent me. So don't call me, I will not answer. Your boat is perfect! My advise? Take a $20 bill, buy some 5/16 line and go sailing. Call Pacific Trailer and get a new piece of rubber. NO CHARGE. Bob PS I am reconsidering my ' at cost' offer to help people get reasonable gear at a fair price. This customer just proves how little appreciation can come from going the extra mile. I'am sick of it. John Stephenson wrote:

Hi Chris,
I bought and paid for a new M17 from Bob on July 14th of this year. To this point the experience has not been good. The boat didn't arrive until 9-18-04, over two months after it supposed to be shipped. When it arrived it was incomplete. It had the wrong mainsail, no jib sheets, the rudder wasn't varnished or sealed, the CDI roller/furler wasn't installed and a partial list of parts, for the CDI, was in a box in the cabin, no reefing gear. I had ordered the lines run aft, but no parts were installed for lines run aft. On top of all this, the boat was not secured properly during delivery and the bow has a hunk of gelcoat, the size of a nickel, broken out, down to the fiberglass. None of this would be a problem if Bob would take care of the missing and broken problems, but, to this date Bob hasn't come through. He doesn't answer e-mails. He won't answer the phone when he knows it's me, and when I call on a different phone and he answers, he gives me a quick excuse and hangs up. If I had it to do over again I would buy used. Dealing with Bob is not good.
This e-mail of the experience is compressed. If you would like more info you can write me at this address or call: 605-884-4382 home or 605-868-9302 mobile.
