I took my M-15 rudder apart 4 years ago, srtipped the old finish, sanded and restained it. I final coated it with a product called Dura-Tuff. The label says "Replaces varnish, More Scratch Resistant, Faster cure and Greated UV protection." Anyway its been on for four years and still looks very nice. I dry sail most of the time and when I do moore the boat for the summer, the rudder/tiller is stowed in the cabin. Still, I would use the stuff again on any similar project. Don Haas M15-248 "E. Hello everyone,
I am going strip & reseal my tiller & rudder this winter, but I don't know what sealer to use. My local marine shop only had a paint that would tolerate being submersed. They did not think polyurethane was appropriate. Has anyone done this before & have any suggestions.
Also, am considering buying a used 1992 Honda 7.5 hp motor for my M17. Does anyone have any experience with this motor. What is it worth on the used market, and is it too big for the boat.
Thanks in advance,
Jim Easton
