I just measured skeg on my 1975 M-17 (#55). The width at very top where it meets hull is 2-5/8 inches. The width at bottom, before it starts to curve is 1-3/8 inches. Coincidentally, I just pulled it out of water. I think that you will find differences between years. Bill K
