John, If you get to Coos Bay it's only a short hop up the coast to Winchester Bay where I keep my M23 (in case you want to check out an assortment of M boats). Let me know when you're in the area and we'll see if we can coordinate something. I also have an M15 at home in Roseburg undergoing restoration at the present time. If you make it to Eugene (75 miles north of Roseburg on I-5) there is a reservoir with a fleet of Montgomeries. Fern Ridge reservoir, just west of Eugene, has a marina that had about 6 M17s and 15s (mostly 17s). A very close friend is the owner of one of those and you could probably catch a sail with him. I also have keys for his boat so between the two of us we might be able to work something out. Give a shout when you're in the area. I recently discovered the existence of the Montgomery boats when looking at the Nor'Sea web site. I'm eager to see them in person, so this seems to be the place to find out where they're at. As my salutation might indicate, I live partly in Hawai'i. I'm pretty sure there are no Montgomery boats here (Hawai'i Island, a.k.a. the Big Island), but go ahead, surprise me... From mid-June I'll be on the west coast USA through the summer and early fall and traveling a fair bit so I'm hoping I might find some Montgomery owners along the way, to see the boats and possibly even get a sail. I'll for certain be in the San Francisco Bay area; also Portland, probably Seattle, possibly Olympic peninsula, and various smaller places along or near the coast (Brookings, Coos Bay; maybe Eureka or Crescent City, etc.), and along the I-5 corridor from Sacramento to Seattle. Might get to N. Idaho as a cousin recently moved to near Coeur d'Alene (big lake sailing...). There's a slim chance I might get to the New England coast (Portland, ME and thereabouts). So if anyone here is somewhere in those orbits and up for a boat-related visit, let me know! Out here in mid-Pacific, I'm a member of Na Hoa Holomoku, our local sailing club ("yacht club," ha ha...) based in Hilo - so if any of you happen to get over here please give a shout and we'll take a boat out! Our club has assorted dinghies (Sunfish, Hobie Ones, Lasers), and a few Hobie cats (a 14, a 16 and a Getaway); also a Potter 19 and an International Folkboat (and another IF that's a project on the hard, and a Wharram cat, Tiki 21 I think, that broke mooring and went on the rocks, still awaiting repairs), and a few other odds and odds. Plus one member owns a Corsair F-31 and is very generous about sharing the helm for club sailing events.
