I've been checking these out on the link that Howard posted (good ol' Cabela's). They're inexpensive enough that I could invest in one to experiment with, and won't have to apply for a government bail-out if it fails. Thanks Howard and Bones. Cabela's has a drift sock they market for fishing boats. We have used one many times on a Lund 16 foot open boat while walleye hunting. It has a circular frame, sock, lanyard, and trip line to spill the water out of the sock. It all packs into a canvas bag. I have no idea how it would work for a M17.
