Oh, so that's why it doesn't leak. Not a bad idea, actually, using some of the space below the cockpit sole for something. Why not a water tank? Was looking at a tutorial about fiberglassing on Youtube and discovered something I had been doing wrong with the glass. When you put on your first layer of glass, do NOT try to fill in all the rough surface of the fiberglass weave. First coat of epoxy should just wet out the glass. Let that kick and then within twelve hours, brush on a second coat to fill the weave. Otherwise you will actually float the cloth up off the surface your are fiberglassing and weaken the whole installation. After I caulk, if it is latex caulk I wet my finger and "tool a radius on the caulk. Makes it look very nice. If I am using an oil base caulk I wet my finger with mineral spirits and then tool the surface. Just let your fingertip lightly glide along the caulk using very little pressure (just barely touch the surface of the caulk). I use a collapsible water jug, from Walmart to hold some water. You can squeeze that into some pretty tight places. If you use one of those you can get rid of that rigid one it looks like you now have and close up that opening with a glassed in board, then you will be able to reposition your winch properly over the cb pennant. That is a heck of a wear point where the pennant comes put of the cb trunk! You could also place a cheek block above the exit hole in the cb trunk so the line rolls instead of rubs on the cb trunk. Then the line can lead to your winch. Aren't small boats fun? You get to figure out all the problems you would have in a really large boat at only a fraction of the price! It's really not too bad, opens up a lot of space. I'm hoping to glass the steps at some point to get rid of the ugly, about to fail sealant. Problem is my glassing may look worse! Lol

I've pondered this many times! 5he only thing I can come up with is that it had to do with the steps and companionway, or the 2ater tank that's back there. As far as I can tell, there's no way for water to get in there except for through the companion way. It's been completely dry other than the centerboard hole which appears to have cured nicely, zero water today

Wonder why someone chopped away the port forward half of your cockpit foot well?????????????? What did they do to keep water out of the cabin once it found its way into your cockpit?? Curious people want to know.

Made a home Depot run and found a product and a gadget. Attached is the product, and the picture of the gadget, oops...forgot! But, if you can picture a tiny top hat made of pvc, that's it, plumbing aisle. I had to drill and round the edges of what would be the top of the hat for the pendant. Of course it went in top hat top, down.
I thought I'd try the water weld on account that's it's sandable. Cures in an hour...
6.00 fix if it holds. I'll report back when it doesn't. Hahah!
