That would be Paul Spriggs, John. I'm still in contact with him several times a year. We grew up together and I was best man at he and Jean's wedding about 100 years ago. They both retired about a year ago and now don't have time to do anything. I've told them about your escapades. Montana is not on the frontline of anything, except maybe severe winters and beautiful scenery, so in 1985 when I read an ad in the Small Boat Journal (a great magazine but sadly deceased) I figured it had long since been sold. I called anyway and amazingly I was the first respond to the ad. The owner (I can't remember his full name, but his first name was Paul) had written that he would deliver the boat.... which he did, rom the Oregon coast to Billings, MT, a little less than 1,000 miles. He drove over in November and the day that he arrived the high temp in Billings was 13 degrees. By the time he gave me a quick orientation about the boat we were both damn near frozen. Toby (the orginal MIss T) and I warmed him up with dinner and breakfast and thanked him even more warmly for delivering it.
