Sean: Check with Gene Buchholz on this one. He's motored that route. Here is what he emailed me in part: " If one averaged 35 miles a day it would take 20+ days. Lots of current and not much favorable wind. I've done the trip to an from Sitka. Nice if you have plenty of time. I'm sure there are some young and hardy souls up to it. Will be interesting to see what happens." gene GARY ~~~~_/) ~~~~ Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment. I've been seriously looking at this race as well. Sounds like a hell of an adventure. From what I have researched so far, it sounds like the "human propulsion" aspect can be expected to come into play in a big way. 750 miles is a Long way. Even if you could average better than 4 knots, 24 hours a day ( which you never would even come close to),,,,it would take 7 plus days nonstop...lol. Holy smokes....I thought The Border Run was long at just 100. Or so miles .... This race will test anyone that tries it.....hard. I loaded the charts and currents.....lol...yeah....expect 5 to 6 knot tidal currents in many places. Whoa! More research needed..... Sent from my Verizon 4G LTE Smartphone
