Hi Dave- Possibly no one on the list but me knows the 12. It was designed in '71 by Lyle Hess, for me, and I made a little over 200 of them, if I remember correctly. It was meant to be an evening series yacht club boat for good sailors, and is very quick for its size, and needs some agility and some weight over the side when it blows. If I remember correctly the sail area is 96 ft. We used to race it at the yacht clubs in Newport Beach in the early 70's and had some very good competition. I am a new member of the list. My interest is based on a friends boat. It is a Montgomery Marine Type 12, a small open 12 ft. sailboat. According to the serial number it was manufactured in 1973. I checked the archives but saw no mention of an M12. Is anyone familiar with this model? This particular boat hasn't been in the water for years.
