OK, getting ready for my first sail in #208 (Thanks, Bob!). Now, this boat appears to be set up in the past for reefing, but is not set up right now. So, here is what I have and what I am thinking. Please chime in on the best ways to do this. At the moment the main is on the boom with a bolt rope, and on the mast with slugs. There is no outhaul set up. The clew is just tied with a short, secure line. At some point I will set up a proper outhaul with a block and a cleat. But for now, that is what I have. Now, there is a dead eye on the port side of the boom that looks to be in the right spot for the reef clew. There are also blocks on the boom that go forward towards the mast. It looks like this was set up originally for 1 line reefing. It looks like I can set up the 1/4 inch yacht braid I just bought to go from the dead eye on the port side of the boom, up to the reef clew, back down to the cheek block, forward through the boom blocks, to the cheek block near the tack, then up to the reef tack, back down to the jam cleat on the port side of the mast. At least, it looks like that was the original idea. Will this work well? Or, should I change this to some better arrangement. Thoughts? Daniel M15 #208
