Welcome to the list, John It was a pleasure sailing with you and your lovely wife this summer! As I'm sure you know, you should be able to get a few weeks in on Lake Erie yet this fall; one year I didn't hang it up until early November. The sailing gets pretty good late in the season, not just because of good winds but because the cooler temps drive a lot of the powerboaters off the water, and their wakes with them. A few years ago - 2002, I think - I went out on the lake in either late October or early November to watch the Leonid meteor showers. Sailed over to the north side of Kelley's Island and anchored out. What a show! It was a bit nippy, but gorgeous. That night the lake was glassy calm. A couple of Saturdays ago I headed on over to Put-in-Bay. The wind was relatively light but the powerboaters were out in force. I suppose that is partly why so many sailors were motoring: http://www.cs-bb.com/forums/CSBB/index.cgi?read=57609 Then too, you have the option of heading south with the boat without taking all winter to do it! I AM SCHEDULED TO TAKE DELIVERY OF MY NEW M17 SEPTEMBER 27,2006. MY NEW BOAT IS #643 AND HER NAME WILL BE "SEABISCUIT". THIS WILL BE OUR 15th SAILBOAT AND HAVE JUST DOWNSIZED FROM A TARTAN 3800. I HAVE ALWAYS SAID SAILING A SMALL BOAT IS EVERY BIT AS MUCH FUN AS SAILING A LARGER BOAT AND MAYBE EVEN A BIT MORE. I WANT TO PERSONALLY THANK TOD MILLS FOR THE TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF HELP HE HAS GIVEN ME IN SORTING OUT MANY OF MY QUESTIONS. I AM SURE THE MORE ONE HAS SAILED THE MORE QUESTIONS HE CAN COME UP WITH WHEN ORDERING A NEW BOAT.
