no problem with a bulb-d DB, their all over the place well heavier then we can afford. But there is another issue and I just ran into it today. I had a 9 or 10"wide teak tread installed atop my DB, because I'm a pretty fart smeller and I thought at that height and placement it would a great tool to stand on to launch, adjust,or crank whatever the heck you want , and that works great. but today when I went inside to clean (way over due !) I found that with the board up it really put a roadblock at the companion way, I thought holly mother of God how fat am I? Anyway just something to think about. Maybe that's why Jerry decides where to put the Keel and then put the rig in the right place. I always do it the opposite way,but I'm learning. ________________________________ From: jerry montgomery <jerry@jerrymontgomery.org> To: For and about Montgomery Sailboats <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Thursday, December 27, 2012 6:32 PM Subject: Re: M_Boats: questions on a 21' Probably so- not sure i'd trust a DB that heavy, but i'll keep my mind open. Stanm just made a special M-17 with a bulbed DG and we'll see if it heads for the bottom. We discussed a DB on the S-17 and decided to go conservative, and it's very stiff and fast. Hard to beat. jerry ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joe Murphy" <seagray@embarqmail.com> To: "For and about Montgomery Sailboats" <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Thursday, December 27, 2012 5:36 PM Subject: Re: M_Boats: questions on a 21' is it planned to have a keel/centerboard?? Definately the side decks will be wider! jerry ----- Original Message ----- From: <bownez@juno.com> To: <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Wednesday, December 19, 2012 5:38 PM Subject: Re: M_Boats: questions on a 21' Hi Jerry, I am perfectly comfortable with the 8'' beam on my M23. The only real issue is the narrow port and starboard side decks next to the coach roof.
