Hi Tom, My M17 Lily may be the one that Ron spotted on Mission Bay, as I keep her in mast-up storage in the parking lot at the mission bay yacht club, launching with a hoist. It is sunny today, so I'm headed down there soon for a little lunchtime sail. I've got to shake off the cold from the holiday week spent with family in Cleveland! My 11 and 8-year old kids love sailing in mission bay, since there are no waves and they can go swimming off the boat in the summer. For more adventure, I like to make the run around Point Loma to Shelter Island for a weekend (about 16-18 miles depending on how far out you have to go to stay away from the rudder-grabbing kelp), or even all the way to Chula Vista in San Diego's south bay, about 30 miles sailing all told. If you are coming west, I'd recommend Dana Point. There are nice ramps and a clean marina with guest slips there, and from DP it is a 20 mile run down the coast to Oceanside or 12 miles up to Newport. A fun day's sail is up to Newport for lunch, then downwind back to Dana for the night. Matt On Dec 31, 2010, at 11:17 AM, judy casino wrote:
