Sounds great, Connie. I think I will remove the forward most bit of teak and make room for mounting the chocks in line with where the teak railing was, like on the new M-15s. Bob Eeg sent me a great pic which shows the chocks clearly on a new boat. How hard is it to add epoxy and re-drill? I have heard about that before but I am intimidated by the prospect of removing more material than is needed. Sealing underneath the chock won't do it, huh? Sounds like a big job for a newbie... -Rusty --- chbenneck@juno.com wrote:
Hi Rusty,
My teak toe rail is about 1 1/4" high.
It was cut it to about 3/8" high when I installed my chocks, but it wasn't wide enough to mount the chocks.
To form a base that matched the base of the chocks I added some teak pieces - bedded to the rail and the deck.
Then I drilled the mounting holes for the chocks oversize; filled them with thickened epoxy; and re drilled them to the correct size.
The reason for doing this is to seal the balsa sandwich deck structure and to preclude any water getting into the balsa core via the bolts holding the chocks.
