25 mph? You leave the straps on while you're sailing, Tom? Larry On Wed, 21 May 2003 20:22:32 -0700 "Jerry Montgomery" <jmbn@innercite.com> writes:
Come on, Tom. How can straps hum at 25 mph?

I use a wide nylon strap (2"?) and ratcheting buckle to secure my M15 while towing. I've cut a mountain bike inner tube in two lengths and slipped it over the strap. It seems like it protects the boat and helps keep the strap in place as well. I take a twist in the strap in the span over the cockpit to eliminate any vibration or humming. t

Jerry, You're correct on the straps chaffing the boat. You can wrap the strap with carpet or leather where it touches the finish and that will help protect it.

<<< jrduke1@dslextreme.com 5/17 8:00p >>> Hello, I wonder if it's advisable to tie the boat to the trailer when towing long distances. If so , what is the best way. It seems that tie down straps would chaff the gel coat.
