Correction, Thanks to Rachel for pointing out that Maria Jorge gets the credit for the Starboard suggestion; "Starboard is the copyright name of marine grade polymer sheets commonly used in the marine industry in place of teak on boats. It is easy to work with using standard tools, stands up to UV rays and is practically maintenance free. Here is the website: www.kingstarboard.com. West Marine carries it but it is expensive. I would look around for other sources such as someone who sells plastic sheeting. It will never have the beauty of teak but I like the fact that it is maintenance free. Re-doing the teak toerails and other trim on my M17 has been enough work. The tan color contrasts nicely with the vertical teak trim on the companionway." Maria Well, at least I got the Gender right. BTW, I found a place that sells teak in small quantities (plywood and lumber) at reasonable prices. Check out www.buckwoodcraft.com. Also, Marisafe.com is the best place to buy starboard. --Bob On Jun 16, 2005, at 7:18 PM, Irvin Kooris wrote:

So, after two months of fixing and adding stuff to my new (old) Monty 15, I think I'm finally ready to put it in some water.
For the curious (and picture hungry), here's a brief list of stuff that I did;
-- Rebuilt delaminated centerboard
-- Re-faired the keel
-- fixed rotten core under mast step and bow cleat
-- Fixed adjustable motor mount and added access port
-- Built new hatchboards (thanks Rachel for your Starboard suggestion)
-- Added Jib downhaul
-- Did major clean up and ding repair
-- refinished all the teak
'Course, I was in school full time, so it took awhile. ;-)
Here's a link to a few shots.

Wish I had had these available when I was trying to figure some of this stuff out. So, feel free to borrow.
Anybody want to go sailing? I'm getting ((((((nervous)))))), but excited.

P.S. I haven't been able to access the Funtigo site for months. Anybody having the same problem? Yes, I'm on a Mac. And yes, I've tried multiple browsers. The interesting thing is, I cna't even access Funtigo's home page. I think they need to change a couple of letters in their name!
