I have an 8' El Toro, Poquita, that I've modified slightly-- oar locks, padded rowing seat in dagger board slot, canvas covered pool noodle rub rails. I also added a skeg to help tracking, she rowed like a bowling ball. The sail is tanbark to match Chiquita and Bonita Henry On Sat, Aug 12, 2017 at 11:06 PM Thomas Buzzi <thomaspbuzzi@gmail.com> wrote:
What do you use for a dinghy to get out to your mooring, Henry?

Tom,
I'm fortunate in that I am able to keep Monita on a mooring buoy near my home. I can approach the buoy from any direction depending on which way the wind blows. This means I can always sail on and off the mooring. I never have to use the motor for my regular mooring. But I do need it to back away from the dock or beach when taking the kids swimming, and of course at the ramp. My regular motor is an old Mariner 5hp long shaft that I picked up from a friend of Bones'. It is very light and works well enough but with the single cylinder it vibrates a lot. Nothing like the sewing machine smoothness of a two cylinder Evinrude!
