I've made 3 trips there and used the Shipyard Marina; it was first class. Has showers as well as a hose bib to wash salt off the trailer. It is only a few miles from the museum at the Naval Air Station. Check with them to see when the Blue Angels practice. You can anchor behind Sand Island and watch the show from the dune top. My first trip was with the B.E.E. R. cruise in early June. Most were larger boats like Macgregors that did a lot of motor sailing to drinking anchorages. Still a fun bunch though. 2nd trip was the Florida 120 in mid-May. This is a small boat group. My M-15 was larger than 4-5 of the boats. They have a number of good anchorages to visit. By going on these trips I learned enough about the area to do my own cruise later. Note- I tried to go to Joe Patti's but on first trip most docks were crowded with fishing boats. On 2nd trip it was low tide and I didn't want to get all of my fenders out to tie to the fixed piers at low tide. On Sun, Sep 20, 2015 at 10:20 PM, Charlie Fortner <charlie@rentrof.net> wrote:
Good evening wrinkle boat lovers,
Anybody been sailing in Pensacola recently? Got any suggestions on where to go, what to see, what to eat?
Pensacola isn't a hard and fast destination, I was just thinking of it because it's within striking distance of Atlanta. I'm all ears for other interesting sailing destinations on the northern Gulf.
