That's nothing, Doug. On my flush deck 17 I had a chute that was hot pink and purple! My wife called it the Fredericks of Hollywood sail. Skip Elliot made it, and when he asked the color I said "surprise me- use something that's about ready to go bad). Tyler- my chute for the m-15 was a discarded 470 chute. A bit big but no problem, and I used it in 30 kn winds and big chop in Mexico. A FJ chute would probably be fine, also a 420. Dougs would be fine- probably a 200%, which is the class chute. To quote Geo Patton, "old spinnakers never die; they just rip apart". (If you believe that, you'll believe anything). -----Original Message----- From: Douglas Kelch Sent: Tuesday, July 18, 2017 4:49 PM To: For and about Montgomery Sailboats Subject: Re: M_Boats: 2017 Dinghy Delta Ditch race in Sacramento Aug 5th I happen to have one I would sell for $30. I'd love to do the cruiser challenge again, but Samantha and I have a 5 week old baby (our son Tevian), and I can't leave her alone that long... hopefully I can do it next year. Last year was days before my PhD defense.
I don't have a spinnaker, so I'll just do the race without it. If anyone on the list has one for sale, or would rent/loan it for this race, please let me know. I do have a big nylon drifter, but that's obviously not class legal.
Does anyone have a recommendation for where to buy a good M15 racing spinnaker from, and what type (sailcloth weight, symmetrical vs asymmetrical) is typically used? Is there any chance there is a popular racing dinghy that uses the same size spinnaker, that can be often found used?
Sincerely, Tyler

Geoff Prindle and I did it in my Sage two years ago. You need a spinnaker. I just gave mine to Dave Scobie to use on a Sage 15 or I'd let you use it. it's a fun but not a good race in a non-planing boat; it's all downwind in 20-30 knots and there's no way you can save your time when the competition is planing. Good luck.
The cruiser challenge in Monterey is this sat if interested.

Hi all,
I will be doing this race in my M15, and it would be great if other Montgomery people wanted to participate also. It's a 30 mile race in the California Delta near Sacramento California. The deadline to register is Saturday July 29th, and it costs $50.
