We secure our tank with a strap to a folding pad eye (if that is the correct term) I put in the back bottom of the cockpit. When the tank is in the boat we leave the vent open the whole time. If we're not on a trip, the tank is out of the boat. Sometimes I accidentally leave the tank in the sun off the boat with the vent closed and it seems to just puff up without obvious damage or leaks. I usually don't store the tank with gas in it for long. Or some kind of pressure valve? I’d love a setup I could leave in place but given our sunny berth and the m15s lack of an isolated gas locker, I take the gas can home after every sail. Daydream of a wooden locker that would fit in stern where I could leave tank out of sun, but can’t decide if it’s over complicating things. Thanks other Dave for the detailed notes on fuel usage-that went straight to my boat notes for future trip planning! Alex
