Not sailing up there at present - I lived in Seattle for 7 years some years ago. Got to do 4 days in the San Juans last year on a friend's Ranger 20. I hope to bring Pajarita up there for a bit late summer/early fall, or next year for sure if not this one. cheers, John S. On 07/19/2016 07:21 PM, Steve Trapp wrote:
John, I will guess that if you are familiar with Washington State Ferry colors that you probably sail on Puget Sound? My M-15 and me are on the South Sound, Budd Bay and Olympia. Steve M-15 # 335

Not a WA state ferry...they are all green and white, not black and white. And none that big! But whatever it is, in the channel, it has right of way one way or another!
cheers, John S.

Is that a Washington State Ferry? I think they get right of way over any vessel other than a U.S Navy or U.S Coast Guard vessel, regardless of wind or other factors. Or am I thinking, maybe it is simply the law of good sense right of way? Steve M-15 # 335

Ha Willy, I brought food and beer! Gentle breeze, this tack should be good for a while. 2 porpoises stopped by to say hello to you all. There's a sailboat off in the distance, I will catch it.
