Show him how to tie a bowline, and in a few years you'll have a first class, light weight foredeck hand on your Wrinkleboat for regattas. Let him play with model sailboats, and as he gets older maybe graduate to some RC controlled racing sail boats to increase his skills. Light weight, knowledgeable foredeck hands are hard to find; which will give you a built-in advantage for years to come. Congratulations on your new foredeck hand Captain Wrinkleboat Gramp. Connie PS in a few years build him an OPTIMIST for real hands-on sailing experience . T'ain't hard to do, and he can lend a hand in the construction of "his" boat. It's a sneaky way to get them hooked on becoming real sailors. But be aware, if he should have a brother or a sister, they will want to sail their own OPTIMIST (sharing a boat doesn't work - we tried it and it failed miserably. I foolish father thought one could sail the OPTIMIST and the other child our sailing dinghy. No way did that work. We had to build a second OPTIMIST to keep peace in the family)
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy New Year , Happy Everything - Peace! To those heading out for New Year events soon - motor safe. Broad reaches and clear skies for your sailing in 2015.
GO
Chuck - we look forward to meeting you at the Lake.
(my 1st grandchild - Benjamin - turns 90 days old today - I guess we gotta keep him as the return period is up!) If I am gonna be 'old' being a gramp is just reward!
