I purchased a loose-footed main for my M-17 in late 2010. I also reconfigured the outhaul to enable easy adjustment while under way, especially upwind. I use a plastic clam cleat mounted on the boom to secure the outhaul. The clam cleat doesn't always hold, and I'm looking for a better solution. Has anybody used a cam cleat with a fairlead on an M-17 outhaul? Given the curvature of the boom, how can it be mounted on the boom?
