Hey Norm, Your rudder doesn't look like the one on my boat #337. My rudder is mahogany and you can't miss the lifting mechanism that's between the plates. Maybe someone eliminated the mechanism on your set up. I suppose you sent Bob the link, so maybe he will have some ideas. I'd prefer to have this conversation on the list so we can all contribute and benefit from the solution. My rudder is all apart and now being varnished. At some point I could layout the internal parts to show you how the kick-up mechanism works. Right now everything is scattered around my house and barn, but the last coat of varnish goes on today and then I'll start putting it back together. The hole is the dark spot in the white area just above the green to the rear of the blade. Bob told me about lifting the tiller also. I took the rudder apart in my re-furb and replacement of corroded bolts. There is nothing inside the aluminum that connects to the tiller or blade. The aluminum only holds the blade in place with one bolt. If some thing was connected to the blade, it's long gone. There was not an outline of any missing parts inside the aluminum that I could see. All the other spacers had a definite outline in the aluminum. Norm
