Appreciae any ideas
Hi my name is Armand Sloper (MailerArm@aol.com) and I have made approx. 12 trips to the Islands, most of them for a week at a time. (M17 + CAL 20) It will take 5 to 8 hours to get out there, depending on which cove you end up at. There are plenty of cruising guides that talk about the Islands and their coves (and the dangers in them). And about the high winds you could incounter. Be prepared to reef the Main sail and perhaps drop the jib, Before the wind picks up and you scare any inexperienced crew by putting the rail in the water. Its VERY important to have some heavy duty anchors, (at lest two) anchor chain and line. Most coves, people will anchor bow and stern because a lot of the coves are small and or filled with other boats. There is never to much anchor line! (The nearest help is 20 miles away.) Happy sailing
