Why don't you call Bill Tosh, 903-743-5555, TCBOATS. He makes sails and rudders, & is located in Rusk Tx. Will do a great job and reasonable prices. The kick up rudder on my 1974 m-17 has kicked the bucket. It was a homemade job from the PO and was workable, but now the fiberglass sleeve has cracked in several places and is pretty bad. It has served me well though and although reglassing is an option I am going to look at something a little different. My boat uses the original pintle an gudgeon configuration, and that in itself is dangerous running aground since the gudgeons are bolted to the boat transom and have no give to cushion the blow. Rebedding this holes are on my winter project list. I would like to hear from you guys that bought the new lighter material rudders from ida sailor or other manufacturers. I wonder who Bob is buying them from these days? Any way, any help would be appreciated.
