Doug: I use the largest diameter bungi cord material possible to fit through the metal ruddder plate . I use whipping line at the end to make the diameter as small as possible to fit. It can take awhile but it's well worth it. The rudder goes up and down on command and with no slack. I replace it every so often, as needed. I too, would like to know an easier way. I repaired the old tiller and could easily swap back and forth if the elastic return for kick up rudder could be made as a quick disconnect. Any Ideas? Thanks Doug --- Richard Cottrell wrote:

Do you by chance know the West Marime part number? 'cause I can't seem to find it on line anyway. Sounds like something I may want to try... -- Steve McClellan~~M15~#152~~Chicago
I went to West Marine, purchased a J24 Tiller and used it on Really and was satisfied with the 4-foot length.
