Hi Doug, The upper part of Cochiti Lake is the same way; a canyon with high cliffs on both sides. The wind is either up-river or down-river, so wind shifts are sometimes 180 degrees. The main body of the lake, maybe .5 miles x 1.5 mile, is a little more sane. I sailed the M7-11 on Saturday with winds expected to be 10-15, but had gusts of at least 25. I was just happy to keep it right side up. The lake is completely full and I was able to sail about 3 miles up the Aqua Fria river before I ran out of time. The gust were slamming down the river channel between the high cliffs. I took in one reef in the main and when I headed back up wind I had to roll up the outer jib. Got back on the main lake and the winds were 2 kts gusting to 25 kts with 90 deg wind shifts. What a wild ride. I am glad everything held together. I even met another M17 out playing. Thier boat name is Music and the crew also owns an M 17 in Phoenix but it hasn't been in the water for a few years. Thanks Doug Kelch Seas the Day M15 G #310 _______________________________________________ http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/montgomery_boats When posting, remember that there is no privacy on the Internet!
