Neil, Jim sails Grace like she is on rails!! Let me also say... When we were rigging up to go out Jim and I were talking. I decided to hank on a 150 because the forecast had been lightened up for the day and I HATE being underpowered. Jim elected to hank on a jib, rationalizing that the conditions would increase as the day went on and he's end up with the right set-up. I said, "well, if it picks up....I'll deal with it then". You guessed it. It picked up. Jim was out in the same vicinity as I was. I finally gave into the fact that yes, I had to get rid of the genoa, and yes, I had probably waited too long. I hove to and began the delicate dance to the bow (not fun on a 23 with a dodger) to switch out sails. The bow was bucking pretty hard and it was not comfortable. Of course, in those conditions, it takes three times as long to get the sails switched. While I was up there .....here comes Jimmy. Zoooooooom! He sails by "You ok?!" I answer in the afirmative and get back to work. Next time I look up...ZZZZOOOOOOOOM...there goes Jimmy.......and a couple minutes later Zoooooom...there he goes again. He intentionally just hung out keeping an eye on me to make sure I made it back to the safety of the cockpit safe and sound. A CLASS ACT he is! Thanks Jimbo!! :-) An half hour or so later, I had to heave to again to tuck a reef. That was a cake walk compared to changing out the headsail! As always though....all the sail adjustments/changes were 100% worth it ending in a day I will always remember!
