My reality therapy came with losing my favorite hat overboard in a 35+ mph day on Bear Lake. I was able to retrieve the hat after 45 minutes of effort. My son's 12-year-old friend who was along for the adventure laughed at me when he saw me in the hat some months afterward. It was scary and sobering thinking about what it would have been like if it had been one of the kids overboard! You're right you guys, it's fun to do mini-man overboard drills on flotsam and jetsam. And whoa, the feeling of accomplishment when you can navigate in such a way as to just lean over and scoop that bobbing beer can up as you sail by. tom

The movie?
News to me, but back in the 70's they made the movie "Riddle of the Sands". Curiosity got to me, so I ordered a copy off Amazon. VHS tape. No DVD's. Checked with NetFlix and "no joy".
I found it loosely based on the book. I do mean loosely. More like a highlight reel of the some of the more famous lines. About like watching a poorly produced high school play. If you didn't already know the story, it would be hard to follow the plot. But...there is that scenery to enjoy.
Anyway, now that I've watched the thing, I'm willing to put it on the road for anyone else who would like to see it. I propose to work it like this. Send me your name and address off channel and I will put together a Word file with names and addresses. FIFO rule....first in, first out. I'll put the list of names of the people who respond on a slip of paper with the movie. When you have finished ....ahem.....viewing.....ahem......cross your name off and send it on to the next person. When you do that, send me an email off channel, letting me know you are forwarding it to the next person on the list. That way, I'll always know where it is. Last person can send it back to me.
If you have concerns about privacy and don't want your name out on any lists, Amazon still has a few used copies "For Sail".

Hi Tom,
Thanks and happy holidays to you and yours.
Mold... I keep a dehumidifier at the ready, just to keep the growth at bay.
Did you know there is a coffee called Dharma? Made by a company called Raven's Brew. They sell a very artsy T-Shirt of each of their blends. Dharma Beans, Bruin Blend, Resurrection Blend, Deadman's Reach and others.
There is a new one called Santa Caws with of course a Raven with a Santa Hat on.
Never tried their coffee, but I sure do like their T-Shirts.
