Steve, I bolted a 2+ inch block of wood on the fixed motor mount. The wood block was raised above the top of the existing motor mount so that Honda would be both higher and farther back. It works well with my long shaft Honda 2hp 4 cycle. I don't know if I would do this with the short shaft. Doug Kelch M15 #310 "Seas the Day" --- Steve R <stever@mail.saabnet.com> wrote:
Still no success in tilting the Honda. Moved it side-to-side and tried various transom angle settings. Twist it right, twist it left, twist a little, twist a lot. No go.
Either the older M-15s have different motor mounts, or my 2001 model Honda is different. I know the bottom of the motor has changed - no impeller now, but I do not know if the top changed.
I am thinking of bolting two short lengths of 4 inch aluminum channel to the mount, then bolting a hardwood board to the channel, thus pushing the motor back 4 inches and up maybe 2 inches. I think it will clear then. I will try it with some C-clamps first to see if it will work.
Thanks for the Honda suggestions Connie and Tom and the sail information from Ken.
Three cheers for all the Monty SCA Challenge sailors!
