Gary, If Lake Havasu stayed 54 degrees year around, the fish fauna would be trout and salmon rather than catfish and black bass. I know from experience that the coves reach 80 F in warm weather, and the whole lake above the thermocline is probably nearly as warm. The rivers are of course cold because water is released from low on the dams. Cheers, Tom On Apr 13, 2011, at 4:37 PM, Gary M Hyde wrote:

Kevin,
Sandy mentioned that it's "hot!" in the summertime at Havasu. That's a lot like saying that it snows some in Buffalo, NY. The whole lower Colorado River area does championship level HOT. 100 degree days from now through October are the norm and 120 during the peak of summer isn't unusual. "But it's a dry heat"... except during the monsoon season (peak of summer) when it can be as humid as Boston's worst but 20 degrees hotter. YMMV :)

Havasu is a somewhat remote town in AZ. The lake isn't the best for sailing but has it's spectacular days. Summers are hot!! If you live in the PHX area, Lake Pleasant is a better lake and is deeper than Havasu. In 7 hours on a trailer, you can be in Maina Del Rey or San Diego. Havasu is about 2 hours closer to MDR. CA offers coastal sailing including Catalina Island. I've known a Monty 17 that went out there for a week with no problems. AND living out here is cheaper than Boston.

M15 #200, Wee Fun This Lake Havasu seems like a good place to sail from all talk about it. Do any of you guys live near the lake? Up here in Boston I've been looking at my oat on the trailer since October; must be nice to get to sail more than five onths out of the year. How is it living out there? Retirement will be here efore I know it and I have a hard time getting my head around living in lorida.
