You have - MMP = Montgomery Marine Products (Jerry's businesses) 17 = model 095 = the hull number (Jerry's system as the 17095 'use' differs by each builder) 0376 = build started March 1976 (this is the old ID system that was modified years ago but not applicable as your boat built prior to the rule change) Unless you have the original certificate of origin in the old papers it will be hard to find one as the timeframe Jerry was required to keep records is decades past. Any reference to 'sea king' is an error on someone's part ... As already noted. I'm assuming you purchased/collected the boat from a state that does not title boats? Usually a bill of sale from the seller and then some states will wish to see the boat to confirm the HIN (hull identification number) on the starboard upper transom. :: Dave Scobie On Jun 3, 2017 6:09 PM, <gfroesch@socket.net> wrote: I have a 1976 M17. MMP170950376. I am, after much delay, getting her registered. Some of my paper work shows the VIN as #95 which is the haul #. I am getting a new title for the boat. Titles were not required where it came from. Is this haul # a serial # or a model #. Is it unique to my boat, or does it indicate a haul design? I probably should use the whole # for the VIN. Any opinions? Also – the paper work identifies this boat, bought new in 1976, as a Sea King Montgomery. Does this make any sense to anyone? I’ve never heard these referred to as “Sea King”.
