Rich: I've got M-17 # 232! It's also got a mainsheet traveler about 2 ft. back from the cabin hatch. The traveler is so far from the boom, and so short (limited by the narrow cockpit sole) that I doubt the traveler is worth its cost, + cars, etc. I'd say just mount the mainsheet blocks in the center and be done with it. The only negative to this arrangement is the one-point attachment to the boom. Over-eager crew can bend the boom. I had to replace mine as it was bent when I bought the boat. John,
I did exactly that on my 1977 vintage M-17, and it works fine. The traveller sits under the hatch at the forward end of the cockpit where the original was installed, but it would work the same farther back. I can send you a photo, but my boat is in winter storage for at least another month.

Speaking of mainsheets, has anyone replaced the stock mainsheet traveler (circa 2005) with a running car controlled by lines to each side of the cockpit? I'd like the traveler to stay on the cockpit floor, not mount it at seat level. I'd appreciate hardware and setup recommendations if anyone has tackled this.
Thanks,

Hi Daniel,
When you get your new swivel stand in your M15, what will you do with the
old one? If it's in good working condition, I'd be interesting in buying it
from you. My M15 has been a salvage project and the swivel/cam cleat on my
boat is pretty sad.
Thanks!
