Sandy Your right of course. My friends Greg and jill (who are featured in the current issue of Good Old Boat with their Nor'Sea 27) were lucky to have made that trip. Here's their homepage about living aboard and getting their Nor'Sea 27 ready for a world cruise: http://delezynski.tripod.com/Guenevere (neat cockpit table, huh?) Greg has said he wouldn't tow that much weight again! Your right! The best tow vehicle for our Nor'Sea 27 is a one ton, diesel truck. Either Dodge Ram with the Cummins Diesel or the Ford Powerstroke. Also we use and recommend the 3 axle trailer instead of the 2 axle. (with brakes on 2 axles) The 27 can top out at 12,000 pounds gross weight (boat and trailer) and the trailer and tow vehicle should be the biggest you can get. Thanks for the picture of the NS 27 on the trailer. This person put his life at risk doing this. The brakes were not adequate as well as the suspension. He's lucky to be in one piece. His max towing capacity on that van is about 7500 lbs. My old Ford truck had 10,000 lb capacity, and I wouldn't have towed that. It was a 3/4 ton (460 engine) without dual rear wheels. A brave man.
