Clearing the spam, I figured we needed to get back to the real business of this email- so here's to our Montgomery 15's 40th birthday sometime this year! Jerry, if you are out there, thanks for putting together an amazing boat- she's still sailing hard upwind through the chop in 20+knots while everyone on board smiles (at least once we go to a reef and baby jib), still cozy as heck when sleeping hard after the days sail (okay, sometimes I bang my knees n head, but I always sleep well)- and still mistaken for a new boat by admirers on the dock. This summer I took out a lot of folks just starting to learn to sai, and what a treat to give them the helm and the sheets on a boat that is both responsive enough to learn and really forgiving enough that I don't worry when the helm goes the wrong way and we are spinning with a backed jib as our novices' eyes go big. So thanks to Jerry, but also to all of you whose example and advice have me dreaming of new destinations and the projects to make her an even better boat for the next 40 years (Facebook is nice but fleeting- this list and the old website have been awesome long-term references!). Sure, sometimes I dream of other boats, but at the end of the season it's always the Monty that I'm tucking back into the garage for the winter. Alex C, Yakima WA
