Not to blow a horn or anything (yeah, right), but for all the recent list subscribers who may not have heard, there's a lot of information on our boats at http://www.msog.org, The Montgomery Sailboat Owners Group, written for, by, and about Montgomery boat owners.

It would be difficult to come up with a question that hasn't been discussed on this list in the past; the MSOG site has a searchable database of every posting ever made to this list, more than 15,000 of them. It's at http://msog.org/cfmods/list_archive_search.cfm. Recent messages (last few months) not yet added to the searchable database, as well as any back to March 1999 can be found at http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/private/montgomery_boats/. This address is also in the middle of all those links at the top of every message sent to the list under "List-Archive".

If anyone needs assistance finding stuff on the MSOG, email me directly at msog@msog.org.

Hope this helps. We welcome you to the elite (meaning small) family of Montgomery owners. You are clearly a person with shrewd judgement and acute perspicacity. (huh?)

Hello, my name is Dusty Lane,
I live in Kodiak, Alaska. I bought a 15 foot Montgomery sailboat this spring from Sailing, Inc. in Seward, Alaska - I brought it over here on the Ferry (it is on a trailer). My boat is a 1985 and comes with complete rigging, sails and a 2 hp outboard. It is my first sailboat, and I hope to hear from
other owners about advice on rigging, sailing, repairs, general tips, etc.
I grew up on Kodiak Island, commercial fishing with my family for a living(mostly seining and longlining), and  I now work for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game(talk about role-reversal)... A 15 foot boat is so small! and a 2 hp outboard! But from all I've read, Montgomerys are sturdy little boats, and it seems a great boat to learn on(I will be a singlhander). I love the shallow draft as well. Please send me your suggestions, tips, stories, etc! I wait to hear from you sailors out there:) -Dusty
