Bobbie, I have used Rusty Metal Rustoleum 7769 for light or heavy rust on steel. It is a primer so it does need topcoating after complete cure time (several days in warm, dry weather). I have had good experience with this product. It has to be applied with a brush and don't thin this primer paint. Proper surface preparation is 90% of the work. This product is a dark brown color and contains powdered zinc. I get this primer in quarts so I don't have a gallon going dry in the can. I store my quarts upside down (lid on tight !) to facilitate easier mixing of this viscous primer just before use. Good luck Bobbie. -----L (M-15 hull # 189) -----Original Message----- From: montgomery_boats-bounces+larry.hughston=dgs.ca.gov@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:montgomery_boats-bounces+larry.hughston=dgs.ca.gov@mailman.xmiss ion.com] On Behalf Of Bobbie Mayer Sent: Saturday, July 29, 2006 12:36 PM To: montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com Subject: M_Boats: rust paint and Sparrow Interesting micro-cruiser on Seattle Craigslist: Sparrow 16 http://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/boa/187708802.html Also, while my boat is in the water I've been repainting the trailer with Rustcap paint. Looks good after ten days of curing (the paint can be recoated before 4 hrs or after 10 days.) I did the front mast holder with Rustoleum (it was much less rusted and I had the paint already and the rust is breaking right back through the Rustoleum. I don't know how long the Rustcap will hold but so far it is way out ahead. Bobbie _______________________________________________ http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/montgomery_boats
