Have you considered a rope ladder with teak rungs, John? I've made them for 15's before and used them in Mexico. All you need is a couple of rungs; the bottom one being about a foot underthe water. I just made a couple of rungs, drilled holes thru the ends, and threaded a line thru them, probably 5/16ths, and tied knots in the line to keep the rungs in the proper place. When not in use and while trailering, just throw the whole thing in the back of the cockpit and it can live there, out of the way. I anchored it to the transom by drilling holes in the flange and fastened it just as the traveller is. The rope ladder will seem a little shakey until you use it a couple of times, but people with lithe, young bodies like you and I shouldn't have a problem. I had one fine reply on my previous request for recommendations on a good boarding ladder for my M15. Randy Graves recommended the fine ladder offered by International Marine for the Potter 19. A bit pricey, but appears to be very well made, so likely worth every penny. I don't find anything comparable in West's online catalog, so am wondering two things: ONE: Does anyone else have anything else to recommend? TWO: Has anyone installed one of the Potter 19s' on an M15 and has wisdom to offer on where to mount it, and how to back up the mounting bolts? Best yet, does our Monty guru Jerry have wisdom on either question for me? Wishing all of you great sailing in 2007. I plan on it! John Butler
