My apologies for sending the previous digest back to the list. I was trying to cut extraneous posts and hit "send" in error. Hi Larry, My boat had a ladder mounted on the starboard transom when I bought it. Whoever installed it used a wood backing plate with those spiked threaded inserts that are often used to thread a machine screw into wood. How he got back there is a mystery to me. I installed a Bomar inspection hatch ( about $35 at Defender) on the seat between the molded locker and the transom. That's how I could see how the ladder was mounted. I cut the hatch in to get access to install a tiller extension lock box on the starboard coaming. As it turns out the space gained through the hatch is perfect for storing my two headsails. They are very accessible, free up more space in the cabin and are light enough so not to sink the transom. Rick Langer M15 #337

Everyone, I am trying to find the best way to mount a transom ladder on my M-15. It will go on the the starboard side of course but how do get to the inside to create proper support with plate aluminum or high quality plywood that is covered with epoxy and glasscloth? Is this a factory install only? Thanks all. ----Larry
