Sorry Joe.......for some reason your posts never make it to my computer. Somewhere upstream, some spam filter must be bumping you off. There are a few guys like this where I see the responses to their posts, but never the original. Sounds like Larry's two strap version might be more secure and less in the way. The single line in the middle does hang on stuff, but it's not something I notice much. Having an eye on the jamb cleat would be an improvement. Nothing to keep the bitter end in place, so sometimes you have to go looking for it. If nothing else, having an additional eye strap or fair lead would help. But adding stuff also means more holes in the boat. I try to avoid drilling holes when I can....no matter how small. Howard On Nov 9, 2009, at 9:30 PM, Larry E Yake wrote:
I used small eye straps for the line to run through, mounted diagonally just in from the corners.

Very Clever!! Where did you attach the eye pads on the lid?? Thanks, Joe ----- Original Message ----- From: "Larry E Yake" <leyake@juno.com> To: <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Monday, November 09, 2009 9:44 PM Subject: Re: M_Boats: Cockpit Locker Fasteners
On CornDog I ran the line up one side, across the top of the lid, and then down the other side. That makes the setup stronger, and gets the line out of the middle of the locker. Larry

That's a nice set up. One question. If you had put the line at the right side of the lid instad of the middel do you think it would work as well? This is how my M17 locker "lock" is setup:

When I installed the hasp on our M15 sail lockers, I think I had just enough space to get the nuts on the inside flange of the sail
locker lid.
I installed them and added some Locktite to the threads so that they wouldn't loosen.
The other part of the assembly was inside the sail locker itself, so there was no clearance problem.

Another consideration:
I don't know how thick the sail locker lid flange is, but if
there isn't
enough space on the inside for the nuts, then is the flange where you are mounting the hardware thick enough so that you could tap the hole and put threads into the fiberglass itself?
