Wow, Connie!!! I've dreamt of all of those destinations ... Um ... Except Lake Pocotapaug, of which I'd never heard ... How do you like Lake Champlain in comparison to all of your ocean cruising experience? The Great Lakes await, including Huron's North Channel and Superior's Apostle Islands ... :-) --Craig, M17 #389; M12 #58 ----- Original Message ----- From: chbenneck@juno.com To: montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com Sent: Monday, April 25, 2005 10:33 AM Subject: Sailing Hi Bo, In the past I've sailed the East coast from Cape May, NJ to Boston, MA.; Cape Cod, Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, Buzzard's Bay, Narragansett Bay, and Block Island being the normal cruising areas. Home port was Mystic, CT and winter storage was up the Connecticut River at Cobalt, CT, near Middletown. With ever increasing boat density in all our old sailing areas, and no longer any peace and quiet, we down sized to a trailerable, and now go where it is quiet and peaceful. With the trailerables, (various) I've sailed the Florida Keys, a part of Chesapeake Bay, Moosehead Lake in ME, several times at Lake Champlain, and for afternoon sails at the spur of the moment, I have the M15 at Lake Pocotapaug, in East Hampton, CT, about a 20 minute drive from our house. Pocotapaug is full of outboards towing water skiers on weekends, plus of course PWCs, but from Monday to Friday evening it is calm and peaceful and an enjoyable mini-voyaging sailing spot. If I can help your planning with any (not current) information on these areas, please ask. Connie M15 #400 LEPPO
