This is what I installed in my M17.SKU: Whale SS5212Whale SS5212 Super Sub Automatic Bilge Pump It fits nice and snug in the bottom of the bilge, which is behind the trunk for the swing keel.Actually it was a little messy down there so I first cleaned it up and covered the bottom with some pre-mixed body repair fiberglass to get a smooth clean bottom. Now it sits on the bottom of the keel really nice. I have it hard wired with an inline fuse so it's always ready to go on automatically.I also have it wired to the switch board so I can turn it on manually and in case the inline fuse blows. It comes pre-wired to install this way but I think you need to buy the inline fuse.I also added a through hull fitting to the transom to pump the water out. After my first and only knock down, this was at the top of my list of upgrades. Especially after realizing how easy it is to take on a lot of water and after having to empty the bilge with a dixie cup. I also got a hand pump to empty the cockpit if needed, which I lash to the hand rail if it's really rough. I also installed locks on the lockers since that's how I took on the water in the first place. Behind the CB trunk is the water tank. I don't think the bilge pump is around anymore, but I'll look some more next time. Kazz On Feb 22, 2016 12:56 PM, "Thomas Buzzi" <thomaspbuzzi@gmail.com> wrote:
Jerry has suggested if you want a bilgepump the lowest place to park it is just aft of the cb trunk where it comes out of the hull inside the cabin. I haven't put one in yet but they aren't really expensive. I would like a Whale bilge pump mounted in the cockpit wall next to the tiller that has the handle that you pump up and down, up and down, up and down, you get the picture, so I could get some exercise on those long days at the helm. They say a scared sailor with a bucket is the most effective bilge pump but it is very hard to get beneath the cockpit to bail out the water. Tom B
