Invitation to Monterey Cruiser Challenge set for Aug 1-3

Attention Montgomery skippers! The Potter Yachters, California’s largest trailer sailor club, invites you to join their 26th annual Monterey Cruiser Challenge set for Aug 1-3. To date, 16 boats have signed up including 2 M15s and my S17, with more expected. Registration is FREE. The race is set for Saturday, Aug. 2. Rules are casual, and participants will range from seasoned race veterans to novices. Conditions on the water can be challenging. Some of us will launch at Moss Landing and sail into Monterey on Friday Aug. 1, returning on Sunday Aug. 3. This 14nm passage takes 3-4 hours and is suitable for intermediate and advanced sailors accustomed to ocean conditions. The other option is to launch in Monterey. The registration form, additional information, and a tab for questions are linked below. Slips in Monterey could be limited subject to the harbor master’s determination, so sign up early to guarantee dock space. Directions, parking info, etc. will be posted in June, so stay tuned. New to email list, looking for a replacement centerboard

Hello, I am the proud owner of a M15 on Spirit Lake, ID. It can get pretty gusty here and my "Penelope" can get rocked on the dock pretty aggressively. The centerboard front pin had worked its way loose (unknown at the time to me) and during a sail last season I notice a bump... then no centerboard. My board is lost in the deep and I am looking for a replacement. Does anyone know of a source or specs for the size, shape etc... To have a new one made? -Don

How to remove the brass donut from the rudder?

Hey folks. Not sure what else to call it, but my rudder has this brass donut shaped thing just above the water line. It's part of a system used to raise the rudder up a couple feet in shallow water. I'm (still) refinishing my rudder, and want to take it off if possible, to get a good seal around that hole. Ideas?

Center board pendant

Just thought I'd chime in. I replaced my pendant after it broke ( on trailer, thankfully) by enlarging the hole it protrudes from on top of the case. I then used copper wire to fish a new one thru the racelite shackle on the board and double the pendant back on itself. I then sewed the two parts together and served over. It has held for two busy seasons, with board supported by pendant both summers while lying at mooring. I now need to plug the hole with a foam plug to keep water from gushing out while in a chop. No need to lift boat, etc. I too shimmed my board with 1/4" delrin. I think the piece was 4"x8" with a slot cut in the 8" side at an angle. I slid it over the pin and it has been there for 5 years.
