Looking for help in Eugene, OR

Hello Monty Fans, Does anyone live in Eugene OR and willing to lend a hand to another Monty enthusiast? I have been searching for an M-6.8 with the sailing package for several years with no luck. Unfortunately, I live on the east coast and I've limited by search to something drivable. Well, I feel I have to widen my search if I'm ever going to find something. I have located a basic M-6.8 in CA. The current owner is a Monty fan and is willing to work with me to ship the boat east. In the meantime, I've been on the hunt for a Sabot, which I can use as a 'donor' for the sailing package. Well, I've found the boat I need, but It's in Eugene, Oregon. The owner is trying to get rid of the boat quickly but is only wiling to deal with a local sale. So, I was wondering if anyone out there lived near by and was willing to help me by proxy. Of course, I'd pay expenses + something for your time and trouble. If anyone is willing to help, please send your response to 'wcampion(a)aol.com' and we can work something out. Anchor size

Hello all, I have a pretty standard equipment M17 from 1987. The boat came with a nice Danforth anchor when I bought it 15 years ago, and the anchor has served me well. For reasons I am ashamed to explain, that anchor (together with its rode and chain) are now at the bottom of a lake. I will not provide details :) But I want to replace it, and I was curious as to 1) Do most Montgomery owners favor Danforths over other types of anchors?2) What size (weight) Danforth do people use? I have seen them in 8lb, 9lb, 10lb, 12lb, 15lb weights, etc. Thanks! Andrei.

Bow pulpit. My boat did not come with a bow pulpit. Is there any resource for getting one made or used.

Kirby, I recently took possession of a Pacific Trailer. Build took 6+ months, figure $4000... I had the ladder as an option, and the extension. Fit like a glove! Excellent workmanship. Also, to save shipping costs and hassle, I picked it up from Chino. Overall, expensive, yes. But, well worth it, as it'll outlive me😊. And I'm confident trailering just about anywhere. Good luck! A new trailer will be a custom job from a custom welder. One-off galvanizeling is _expensive_ and challenging to find a place that has a tank that will fit the trailer frame and misc bits. IMO do some reconditioning and see if a small shop welder can help you make bunks to get rid of the rollers. If the current trailer isn't falling apart and the rollers aren't damaging the hull _save_money_ for new sails and going on cruises. By messing I mean not making permanent changes. Just take one or two legs out of the arrangement by skipping a block or two when reeving the mainsheet. For instance, if you have a block and becket at the traveller, just go from the becket to the block on the boom (Skip the teturn to the block) and then to the normal mainsheet cleat. Another example for light air is to terminate the mainsheet at the first block on the boom using a bowline around the block and down to the mainsheet cleat. (assuming the main sheet cleat is at the deck in front of the cabin). Replacement Boat Trailers For Montgomery 17.

My EZ load galvanized trailer for my M-17 is still serviceable but am thinking of upgrading it to a bunk style in Aluminum or Galvanized. Any manufacturers suggested, Welcome. Maintenance on my aging 1985 trailer is getting tougher due to rusted, frozen parts. EZ loader still has many spare parts but they are out of stock on the shorter roller cross beams. M15 skippers Have any of you skipper reduced the main sheet from a (3) part to (2) part? The (3) part seems over kill for a vessel this small . Quicker response with a (2) part. Thanks Capt Jim SV Pelican M15

Does anyone on the west coast of the USA have an M23 they would be willing to let me come see? I am interested in purchasing one, but have never seen one in person... I want to look at the design in person before I spend too much time searching for such a rare boat.
