Good morning all, As of last week, I am the proud new owner of a 2007 M-15. I live in central Minnesota, and have been on the lookout for a boat for a couple of years, and surprisingly located one on Craigslist 30 minutes down the road for me. As per the previous owner(s), the boat has seen little to no time on the water during the last 10 years. In learning about the rigging this past weekend, it appears that all is pretty generic - basically how she came from the factory 14 years ago. A couple questions for the group: - I am envisioning sailing the boat solo on most occasions, and as such was considering having all control hardware lead to the cockpit. I have read about this, but have not seen any clear instructions/tips how others have done this. Would anyone be able to share some pix as to how they have this set up in their boat? - Secondly, it appears that the main sail has never been reefed. I found a zip lock bag with (what I assume) are various bits and pieces of rope for this arrangement. Here too, I would like to be able to reef from the cockpit. Any suggestions as to what works best (pix would help here too). In ending, I am not new to sailing, having been the owner of a small 12 foot Kolibri (German) sailboat for a number of years. It's rather small, and its sail plan is pretty basic (main and jib, but no reefing option), but conceptually to same to the M-15. Used more or less as a fair weather boat. With the M-15 I was hoping to gradually work my way up to larger lakes, and potentially end up along the shores of Lake Superior at some point. I am looking forward to your replies. It's nice to be able to adjust motor height a bit to match conditions and boat loading if/as necessary. For me it's always one of two 'down' positions that are only a few inches different, but a few inches can make all the difference sometimes. for example bouncing in chop I can set it a bit deeper so it doesn't cavitate when the stern bounces up. I think Jerry has said that the notch was partly designed around a particular motor of that era, which was a 2-cycle, so smaller lighter power head, maybe could be turned while in the notch, and maybe it had reverse too? I'll post a picture when I get my boat back in action later this summer. I tried this out last year and it really helps cut motor noise. I started by just propping a throw cushion up where the notch is and that helped a bit. This is on an M17 but would be similar for any boat...I have two reefs but you may only have one in your mainsail. John: When looking for a Mboat I recommend the following - Set up a search keyword alert on Craigslist for areas the boats are more-ish common: greater Seattle, greater Portland, central and southern California, Minneapolis/St.Paul. Boats are listed on the MSOG.org site - look at the navigation menu for 'for sail/to buy'. Note: the list isn't maintained so once a boat is listed it isn't removed when sold ... so look at boats recently listed. Also check www.sailingtexas.com/cboats.html. This site, like MSOG.org, requires careful review as sold boats are often times not removed. Hello all, Just a quick question… I own a M17, 1980 model. Purchased with an attached, adjustable motor mount thru-bolted where the cut out for an outboard. Garboard Drain

Like I am sure many of you do, my M17 spends the winter on her trailer (she's actually been on her trailer for over a year now thanks to the pandemic) and I was considering a garboard drain to keep water from pooling inside while she is stored. I had one in my old SeaSprite 23 with it's long and deep keel, it did a good job of keeping any water that got past the companionway from filling up the bilge and I was considering doing this to the Monty as well. Has anybody done so? Art M17 #406
