Hi All,
While tinkering around on my computer today I decided to make a vcd out of all the MWH videos I have in MPEG format so I could play them in a stand alone dvd player on my TV. Well the mini project worked and I was wondering about making a video collection, something like Senz's, on VCD. I am able to make NTSC or PAL vcd's so they would be compatible with European TV's. The fans in the UK are unable to view Senz's video compilation and this would be the closest to a universal medium outside of dvd and on a much cheaper and easier to duplicate media, cdrs. The quality wouldn't be as good as Senz's unless I captured his video in MPEG2 and made a SVCD(super vcd) however I don't have the video capturing equipment to do that. These videos are old and they would look about the same as they do on VHS tapes except with the ease of dvds. Anyhow, what I was wondering was how many of you would be interested in this project, how many of you live in the UK and how many of you own DVD players that are capable of playing VCDs and SVCDs. Most newer DVD players are capable of playing vcd's and even MP3's and Kodak picture cds so check your manuals to see what your player is capable of. Even some of the newer bottom of the line players (like Apex selling for $60) can play these discs and more. Of course these discs will play in your PC but the idea is to have them play on your tv and skipping tracks with your remote. I you live in the UK and have a DVD player that plays VCDs let me know as I'd like to send a sample to somebody to test compatibility with PAL tvs and get your feedback on the quality. Then I'd need everyone's help in finding the rest of the videos I don't have in MPEG format as I only have 5 videos so far. I'd appreciate your comments, suggestions and feedback. Thanks everyone! Regards.
Alec
