Did they say anything about the melody (bass-line) from 'Rent', which is exactly like 'Behind the Mask' by Yellow Magic Orchestra? Sterling

I just got the remastered first album of Pet Shop Boys and noticed that " A man could get arrested" has a melody just like 'the Safety Dance' melody used in 'Pop Goes The World'. I think it's coincidence because, according to the accompanying book included with the CD, it seems they wrote most of their songs in the early 80s and they listed all the songs they ripped off melodies from. At least they were honest :) Safety Dance wasn't one of them.
