Senz, True, the UK is far more NTSC friendly than we are PAL friendly. If you can convert your D8 videos to MPEG2 then this project would be a breeze. I have the software to make the SVCDs but not the hardware to capture the video off say a vcr. As an SVCD the project would probably have to be multiple cdrs but dvd style menus can be made allowing you to select tracks/chapters with your remote. There could be 1 cd for videos, one for interviews and one for tv appearances. The purpose of the project would be for ease of use and distribution. It must be a pain duplicating a 2 hr vhs tape everytime somebody wants one plus sending tapes back and forth etc. Plus, some of us don't own vcrs anymore! Senz, why would there be artifacts and posterization if the videos were converted without custom compression? Anyhow, are there any more thoughts/question/comments or ideas from any of you. And, back to my original question, how many of you own DVD players that can play VCDS? Thanks for everyone's input. Alec Senz <senz317@yahoo.ca> wrote: > The fans in the UK are unable to view
Senz's video compilation and this would be the closest to a universal medium outside of dvd
Alec, believe it or not but I've mailed more copies to Australia, New Zealand, England, Germany, Sweden and France than I have to North America!! I think an SVCD would be an interesting project but maybe you should keep the videos in NTSC as you'll be distorting them if you try to convert to PAL. Also, overseas people seem to be more able to play NTSC than we North Americans are able to play PAL.
